This village has a population of 56 people. The new well at Sikombela will serve a village of 32 people. And the well at Namakando will support the 52 people of the village, but will also support the extended local community.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"School well\" src=\"https:\/\/partners-in-development.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/blog_fall14well3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The borehole at Katombora Basic School is 50 meters deep, with a one litre water yield per second. The borehole will provide water for over 350 school children, faculty, and staff. This will prevent the school from having to close on days that there is no water available.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Workers hand-digging a well\" src=\"https:\/\/partners-in-development.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/blog_fall14well2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Partners In Development responds to the needs of schools, villages, women&#8217;s groups and individuals in the area of water access and means for generating income based on that access for uses such as farming. The rationale of water projects is that improved access to clean water will result in better health, new agriculture will provide nutrition for families, it will create sustainable income-generating initiatives and thus reduces poverty.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">It can even increase the education opportunities for women, who are mainly responsible for retrieving and providing water for all family uses.
