{"id":1535,"date":"2017-10-28T18:16:02","date_gmt":"2017-10-28T18:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/partners-in-development.org\/?p=1535"},"modified":"2017-12-28T18:21:11","modified_gmt":"2017-12-28T18:21:11","slug":"1535","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/partners-in-development.org\/?p=1535","title":{"rendered":"2017 Update on Our Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>\u201cOver seventy-six percent (76%) of rural Zambians face devastating poverty, denying access to safe water, education, primary health care, and food security\u201d \u2013 Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection in Zambia \u2013<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The year 2017 has been exciting in Munyanya Village, near the banks of the Zambezi River, in Southern Zambia. Your gifts have brought hope to hungry families; addressed issues of poverty; while seeking to build strong sustainable communities through transforming relationships.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017 your gifts have done the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0 Opened the doors of education for over 100 students, by providing school uniforms, shoes, polish, pencils, pens, crayons, text books exercise books, math sets, dictionaries, library resources, school fees, and transport to boarding schools, which is located six hours into the \u2018bush.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Sanitary pads are being provided on a continual basis. Girls in rural areas miss up to 50 days of school annually, because they cannot buy pads.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Over 100 toothbrushes and toothpaste have been provided.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Seven (7) toilets have been constructed. One of the main reasons young girls drop out of school in developing countries, is due to the lack of toilets.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Our preschool building has solar, providing, library literacy, tailoring, and tutoring opportunities at night.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 Corn meal, beans peanut butter, fresh corn, tomatoes, onions, 500 pounds of seed corn, compound D and 9 plows provided for food security.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 We provided Veterinarian services through the local Veterinarian and the vet clinic that was built by Partners In Development.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 We hosted 16 volunteers from Kentucky, South Carolina, Ohio and Germany.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 A shipping container has been purchased.
